The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Port Harcourt Sub delegation is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy below:




Agronomist Field Officer



 



Main Responsibilities:


  • Be aware of the political, economic, cultural, religious situation and informs of any updates to the  Head of Sub Delegation

  • Assumes main responsibility for implementing the Agro programme in area of operation with minimum supervision

  • Monitors agricultural issues in the field and promptly report any disease emergencies to the EcoSec delegates

  • Contributes to the implementation and running of the agro interventions as a part of EcoSec program

  • Participates in implementing and monitoring the various components of the EcoSec program

  • Provides written reports (technical) on field visits, assessments, agricultural activities, trainings and general progress of the program


Required Qualifications:


  • University degree (Agronomy)

  • 3-4 years work experience in a similar field, previous humanitarian / NGO experience an asset

  • Very good understanding of the socio-political situation in the area of assignment

  • Very good analytical and organizational skills

  • Good command of written and spoken English

  • Good computer skills

  • Willingness to travel extensively and to participate in extended field trips


Personal Attributes:


  • Stress resistant and ready to work in adverse environments


Dissemination Field Officer



 



Main Responsibilities:


  • Assists the Head of Sub Delegation in running dissemination, communications and networking activities in the field for emergency interventions

  • Contributes to the implementation and running of specific projects / programmes

  • Identifies, establishes and maintains contacts with key civil society actors, local Red Cross Branches concerning their particular programmes

  • Carries out Civil Society Dissemination to CSOs/CDOs in areas of ICRC’s operations

  • Carries out regular media monitoring in English and local language and contributes to the ICRC analysis of the local media landscape

  • Produces written reports on the activities

  • Collects information on the situation in the field and reports to the delegate

  • Identifies communications needs and work with other departments in information dissemination

  • Takes charge of all dissemination materials in the SD including stocking and restocking

  • Takes record of happenings within the states of operation and makes weekly presentation of General Situation of events of ICRC’s interests


Required Qualifications:


  • University degree in communication or any relevant fields

  • 2 years work experience in a similar field

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

  • Good computer literate and efficient internet user

  • Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment

  • Is familiar and comfortable to work with social media


Personal Attributes:


  • Good analytical and writing skills

  • Capacity to analyse the political and social environment

  • Capacity of treating information confidentially

  • Ability to adapt behaviour to the various interlocutors
